Five-time Irish Tarmac Rally Championship title holder Eugene Donnelly secured the Proton Iriz R5 its first class win in Ireland last weekend, taking fourth overall at a difficult Cork 20.
Donnelly, who stepped in to the drivers seat as a last minute substitute for Rob Duggan, coped admirably with the enforced lack of time to prepare to finish just outside the podium positions.
The gruelling two-day event was hampered by torrential rain over the opening leg but Donnelly was “delighted” with the combination of MRF Tyres and the Iriz R5, staying largely out of trouble to take fourth overall.
Congratulations to Eugene, co-driver Alistair Wylie and the entire team for a superb drive.
